Republic of Scotland?

Britain lives in an incomplete democracy. Our history has been one of gradual change, from absolute monarch to modern democracy and yet we continue to hold on to the last remnants of an outdated system of power and privilege.
Britain still retains a political culture centred on "Her Majesty's Government" - not ours, but hers, a powerful reminder in days gone by of where our place was in the system. The idea of royal "ownership" continues to pervade this culture and to reinforce the idea that the system is not our own.
Is Scotland a place in the world likely to secede from Great Britain?

Well this is different from scotland but when England invaded Ireland we were occupied for seven hundred years. We still are not a reunited country this is why the IRA bombings took place to scare of the british. But we still do not have nine counties that once belonged to Ireland

Iam a US citizen so if i get some of it wrong go ahead and shoot me. In UK i think their needs to bring about real change which is at a snails pace at the moment. 1. House of Lords disbanded and made as an elected upper house, by the people not by birth right. 2. A permanent Constitution. 3. Perhaps even a Supreme Court, though you need a permanent Constitution to do that. 4. I also think that their needs to be a direct vote by the people to elect the Prime Minister and not decided by the ruling party who should be Prime Minister. As for much of the laws and such much of the US and UK in law is the same and are based on the principles and philosophy. I know this reflects allot of what the US is though i have heard that some of these thinks are in works but are moving very slowly. Iam presently studying political science at a University and we talk allot about the UK and how it functions compared to the US.
I think at this point in time Scotland is its own nation in a sense the only thing is that they receive funds from London, basically working like a state with its own parliament and so on.
As for Ireland, yeah it took centuries for Ireland to become an independent country and that was only recently, though it still isn’t complete and it wont until the north rejoins the rest of the country. Ireland is my ancestry country so i have warm spot for Ireland.
