question on shoulder fired stingers

what is the deal with these things? i admit, they're a great addition, but it seems to me that they're a tad touchy.. could someone explain its abilities?  i know it has a huge impact explosion killing any troops nearby, as well as the huge backblast that seems to randomly kill.... everyone.. (lol), but there are times that the round seems to just explode in my face when i think i got it down packed.  I've noticed that you pretty much die if you don't have a lock on a vehicle (sometimes), but I've also died from having a lock on and it exploding in my face.  were you guys trying to make it like the Iraqi RPG with its questionable stability (IE, 5% chance it will malfunction) if someone can go in depth of can and cant do's of it, id' appreciate it.

Hi m8! Do s and donts....Dont fire stingers in enclosed areas.leave yourself plenty of room far away from friendly forces.The stinger will find it difficult to hit an aircraft when it is close to you so fire when the aircraft is further away  after it has released its chaff.Thats it as far as i know......Oh and the stinger is AA only.firing it against infantry or vehicles is a NO NO especially on any NAW server.Have Fun!!

 From what I know there cannot be any friendly troops or vehicles between you and the intended target, even if you are firing from a mountain and said troop is in a valley below you. if there is anything between you and target in any angle you will probably get an explosion in your face.   You are best to be all by yourself far from friend or foe knocking planes to kingdom come
