This last weekend was the SpokLAN Frag-A-Thon 2007 Benefiting April's Angels at Gonzaga University.

The SpokLAN Kamikaze Jeep Patrol and Flying Circus played the crap of the N@W BETA on Saturday racking up nearly 12 hours of continuous N@W maps and SpokLAN mayhem.  We had a many as 24 people in at one point and got to play almost all the maps.

The mod was a big hit and SpokLAN plans to host a N@W server when the new version is released on its newly built online game server.

Kano has asked me to put togther a mod intro and trailer for the next version and the footage that was collected this weekend will be used in that project.

If you're interested in more information on the event or other comments regarding N@W check out our forums at SpokLAN.net

This is Tim.. the Head Geek at SpokLAN and the founder of the SpokLAN Kamakazie Jeep Patrol (we may have to change that to Kamakazie ATV Patrol) and wanted say and extra thanks to the NAW mod team - we appreciate being able the test the hell out of it for you and we accumulated over 200MB of Battle recorder files for TheDude to go through... lucky him.

Either this week or next, we'll be putting in a server out at LLIX (www.llix.com) as they have gracioulsy donated rack space and bandwidth for us to host a server - and we will fire it up with NAW running.

hehe... Mayhem... you can say that again.

Keep up the good work, and expect a number of NAW vids from TheDude and the SpokLAN.net Film and Caffiene Society.

Geekfully Yours.
Tim

This spirit of collaboration with WCC and SpokLan is what I love seeing most in the development of mods. With the ability to share assets, WCC and NAW can take gameplay in unique directions. Everybody wins, and more people will end up playing both mods. With SpokLan you have a wonderful publicity channel for getting new people into 5.0. I'm just glad everything is working out this well. I hope that a few of the new people who get into NAW can contribute new assets of their own to the WCC-NAW collective.

I love making videos with new content and you guys don't lack in that department.  I'm getting tired of the same old maps.  Plus I have a great film crew. Wink  and they love finding the cool places to play on new maps.

Right now N@w has to be our biggest favorites.  I've played the Hard Justice mod and I love it.  This is a big win-win for you guys.  N@W will get a butt load of play out of SpokLAN, bot at LANs and online.

We recently lost access to three online game servers that were graciously albeit temporarily donated for our use.  As a result, we have put together a 2U server that SHOULD go online here in the next week.  We'll be running N@W on that machine.  We have a dual-core 1U server in the process of being built that will also be used for mods when the time comes.

We also maintain a Ranked server and meet weekly on Thursday nites for some good ole SpokLAN fun...drop by and check us out.

LLIX is putting in a power and ethernet drop for us today or tomorrow, and it sounds like I'll be putting in our 2U single CPU server Friday afternoon - so there should be a N@W server up and running this weekend - if you need another beta server, let me know so we can get it updated. We have a pretty good following that we can trust to give it a good beating - being Easter weekend I have a feeling that we'll be hard pressed to find gamers tho Sad

The server specs are:
s939 A64 4000+
2 GB PC3200
80 GB SATA - primary drive
160 GB SATA - storage
~ with a 3000+ cpu it hosted 24 players fine on a LAN, as did our other game server with only 1GB of RAM

Our wonderful rack space and bandwidth sponsor LLIX sits on THE fiber POP for Easter Washington State. Pings to the Seattle area are insanely low. When we had three servers there (owned by SprayCool - they were testing their cooling systems) we were running BF2: Sandbox on one for the fulltime and players in Europe were normally under 200 ping.

Like TheDude and I have said, SpokLAN is big fan and supporter of Mods - regardless of the game. We played a lot of UT Mods, UT 2K4 Mods, HL Mods, BF'42 Mods, Quake 2 Mods... and now BF2 Mods. Our group did a lot of Beta testing for the UT2K4 CarBall mod, as well as some Beta Testing for several HL and HL2 mods over the years. Oh yah, and Sir.Community stuff... we tested out earlier versions of The Sir. Mod and Sandbox for them before the two of us were invited to be part of the Sir. Community.

We will most likely rotate Mods, and game types within those Mods. As we do so, we will get feedback from our Geeks and Gamers and settle in on a small handfull of Mods. When we get our second server in place, we will be able to have the most popular mod / mods on the "uber server" and use the "lesser" server to try out new mods, or as needed running Beta tests for the Mod community.

And yes... Co-Op is insanely crazy the way we play it. With Vanilla BF2 we'll put 32 bots on one side, and then crank up the AI / Difficulty between 85 and 100 and see how long we can survive outnumbered two or three to one. We aren't called the SpokLAN Flying Circus for nothing Smiley .

Thank you again for the opportunity to beat on your Mod - with our group ranging in age from 9 to 49, and skill levels from "n00b" to "expert" the feedback we got was great.

Peace,
Tim

The Dev Team will have to be the ones to answer this question....

In the meantime, while we wait for them complete work on one of the coolest mods around, the SPokLAN server is currently running Sandbox 0.5
