LLIX is putting in a power and ethernet drop for us today or tomorrow, and it sounds like I'll be putting in our 2U single CPU server Friday afternoon - so there should be a N@W server up and running this weekend - if you need another beta server, let me know so we can get it updated. We have a pretty good following that we can trust to give it a good beating - being Easter weekend I have a feeling that we'll be hard pressed to find gamers tho
The server specs are:
s939 A64 4000+
2 GB PC3200
80 GB SATA - primary drive
160 GB SATA - storage
~ with a 3000+ cpu it hosted 24 players fine on a LAN, as did our other game server with only 1GB of RAM
Our wonderful rack space and bandwidth sponsor
LLIX sits on
THE fiber POP for Easter Washington State. Pings to the Seattle area are insanely low. When we had three servers there (owned by SprayCool - they were testing their cooling systems) we were running BF2: Sandbox on one for the fulltime and players in Europe were normally under 200 ping.
Like TheDude and I have said, SpokLAN is big fan and supporter of Mods - regardless of the game. We played a lot of UT Mods, UT 2K4 Mods, HL Mods, BF'42 Mods, Quake 2 Mods... and now BF2 Mods. Our group did a lot of Beta testing for the UT2K4 CarBall mod, as well as some Beta Testing for several HL and HL2 mods over the years. Oh yah, and Sir.Community stuff... we tested out earlier versions of The Sir. Mod and Sandbox for them before the two of us were invited to be part of the Sir. Community.
We will most likely rotate Mods, and game types within those Mods. As we do so, we will get feedback from our Geeks and Gamers and settle in on a small handfull of Mods. When we get our second server in place, we will be able to have the most popular mod / mods on the "uber server" and use the "lesser" server to try out new mods, or as needed running Beta tests for the Mod community.
And yes... Co-Op is insanely crazy the way we play it. With Vanilla BF2 we'll put 32 bots on one side, and then crank up the AI / Difficulty between 85 and 100 and see how long we can survive outnumbered two or three to one. We aren't called the SpokLAN Flying Circus for nothing

.
Thank you again for the opportunity to beat on your Mod - with our group ranging in age from 9 to 49, and skill levels from "n00b" to "expert" the feedback we got was great.
Peace,
Tim
