Just wondering if anyone knows anything about Hamachi? I read that if I create a hamachi account I will be able to create a BF2 coop server with my DSL connection and my friend from his house could join in the game.
Is this true and if so what is the difference between the free version and the paid version.

According to what I have read Hamachi is a virtual private networking application with an open security architecture and NAT-to-NAT traversal capabilities. In short allows you and your friends to connect to LAN games over the internet.

Hamachi is a software VPN.  Very cool little application.  I actually used it at my last job to connect our convenience stores together.  That way they could store backups at the home office.  Also allowed me to remote into other stores from my laptop.

Have also used it online for gaming.

Its very simple to use.  Only drawback that I've seen is that you have to rely on their arbitration server.  If its down Hamachi will not work.

Thanks tehdude,

I used Hamachi with FFOLKES BF2 Single Player Unlocks mod and a friend about 2 miles away was able to log on to my game. This is a great program and best of all is totally free.

I hope the N@W singleplayer mod is released soon.  Grin

Hi Guys,
If you are located in the USA. PlayLinc is another nice free server program for those of you that want to host your own game on the Internet. Servers can be private or public. It runs over Verizon's high-speed fiber. If your interested you can find out more at http://www.playlinc.com/ or just Google it.

I've run and played on Hamachi based servers and they work very well.

with Hamachi running load BF2 or AIX or NAW.
create a local server and set it up for Co-op with bot ratio at 52

Have fun.

I've loaded up the Wacky Races map on NAW conquest and had a ball.

We've had 6 players on AIX with bots and no troubles.

The Hamachi server does crash every two or three rounds if you are running multiple maps in rotation.

But it is FREE
