Well if you are willing to wait as long as you say, you will be ready to upgrade when the nVidia 9 series is out. Which means you can also pick up the top end 8 series much cheaper.

I used to own a few ATI cards...the last being a X850XT Platinum Edition (great card)...but I switched to the nVidia 8800 GTS. evga, BFG and XFX all give lifetime warranties to nVidia cards and that alone is why I will continue to buy nVidia. Until ATI has a faster card that offers a lifetime warranty ...I won't buy ATI.

The fastest ATI Card which is the DIAMOND 2900XT1GPE Radeon HD 2900XT 1GB 512-bit GDDR4 ...still gets spanked by the 8800 GTX.

Have you tried shutting down all unnecessary back ground services and programs? Also disable unnecessary programs that start up with windows. Defrag your hardrive and make sure your memory timings are correctly set.

@Pucker - isn't there a cache somewhere in BF2 that can be cleared as well??  I read something somewhere but I don't remember exactly what it was....

@Anthony - How much disk space do you have available on the drive that has N@W installed??  And is this where you Windows swapfile resides??
