Sorry but I am a LAZY forum reader, so a thousand pardons if this question has already been asked and answered. I get CTD on all BF2 ported maps, and the majority of the custom maps. The CDTs happen when playing coop-mode. I "click" start game, the moment it starts to load.. WHAM CTD !!

Any help please ! Thx

HELP me, I can't think outside the BOX

« Reply #2 on: June 17, 2008, 03:11:54 PM »

it could be a number of things, but the problem I've run into lately are incomplete downloads.  Many times I've seen downloads that are missing several MBs of the overall file, so check your download of the mappack and ensure that the file size is the same as the advertised size.  If not, well, bad download.

OK I uninstalled and then reinstalled the mod. I STIL get CTDs when loading maps that are ported, and ALL the "map pack 5" maps. TBH I enjoy the mod a ton, but this crashing is getting me all pizzed. Is the mod "coop" supported ?

Also, if I am getting crappy downloads from DL sites, can somebody pls give me good DL sites, ones that are confirmed good. The next time I have to uninstall the mod, will be my last time. I dont mean to be hostile about it, but I have no answer as to why this happening.

Thank you in advance for whatever help I receive.

HELP me, I can't think outside the BOX

OK, first, what browser are you using? My bet, IE 7.0 which has an issue of basically "assuming" the download is complete before it is.  It's one of their known issues with large downloads.
Next, get yourself a better browser, try firefox http://www.mozilla.com/firefox with one of the download managing plugins.  It will help.
Then, go to http://www.nawmod.com/index.php?option=com_wrapper&Itemid=73 and grab the 5.2 full install from any of the three hosts.  Based on what you've noticed, I don't think that was the issue, rather it's one or more of the mappacks... so skip this step if you think you have a good install of the full 5.2.  That'll save you a little download time.
Now go download each of the mappacks... yes, all five of them since you don't know which one may have been corrupted.  Don't worry about uninstalling them or NAW.
Now once you have all 5 of the mappacks downloaded, install them... IN ORDER.  You need to make sure that you install them in order because several of the mappacks actually have fixes for maps in previous map packs.
if you have problems and you have followed these directions, send me a message and I'll see what else I can do to help you out. Grin

Well I hate to sound hostile to...but considering how many people have downloaded and installed and played the mod without issue...compared to the very few that do....and going by the statistics from the troubleshooting help and support issues we solve here everyday...even going as far as offering to burn the files to a DVD and mailing it....9 times out of 10 it's "user error". Whether its a shitty connection, a shitty ISP..to a faulty piece of OS, to a noob not knowing WTF he's doing (not directed at you) ...it all comes down to something screwed up on the clients end of the stick.

oh and that 1 left over from the "9 times out of 10" ...that's 'cause we just don't get enough info from the client.

USE A GOOD DOWNLOAD MANAGER if you're having problems downloading large files.

being a "Lazy Forum reader" doesn't garner you much consideration around here.

READ THE STICKYS IN THE TROUBLESHOOTING SECTION AND FILL OUT THE FORM BEFORE YOU POST A PROBLEM.

Below are the file sizes of the original files (created by me) The first 4 Map Packs are named 5.01 for my benefit. They are renamed to 5.0 on our hosts.

I am sure the "error" is on my end here. Trust me, I know how much time and effort it takes to put this mod all together. Thx for the help.
