I can't believe that the Edmonton City Council is going to get rid of Edmonto's municipal airport! Do they not realize its historical value?

? That airport was THE FIRST municipal airport in Canada, and was well noted for being the last stage for pilots before they flew up to Alaska to defend it against possible Japanese attack in WWII. But now, City Council wants to shut it down because of the land's monetary value, and value for living space. Y'know, that's just gonna get more imigrants to our city, which we
CERTAINLY have enough of. Plus, they don't seem to realize how many buisnesses will be forced to close, as many buisnesses in the area rely on the airport. *Sigh*
Does anyone else have thoughts on these issues, or have heard of something similar?
