Hi captaincha0s, welcome to the forums. You need to download and install MAP PAK 5....this patches the maps that are bundeled with the default Maps that come with the NAW installer.

If you install any other NAW Map Packs (1-4) you will need to re-install Map Pack 5 again as it patches all Map Packs

more than likely its because of the bf2 1.5 patch you installed. reinstall your game....the 1.41 patch, the mod and map packs 1 thru 5 in order.

Ahh didn't see that...but no Map Pack 5 installed will crash every map on a multiplayer server.

So now I know that 1.5 patch is incompatible with NAW 5.2...that's to bad!

Apparently you need to patch with 1.41 first...then 1.5

captaincha0s, your trouble-shooting list says you haven't installed any Map Paks.

Let me know how the NAW Mod runs once you've patched with 1.41 ...then 1.5

OK thankfully I have an intact installation of BF2 on my secondary HD, and it is still 1.4.
I copied over the NAW folder to the mods folder. I changed the shortcut target to read D instead of C and was able to crank up the game with no problem. In game version was confirmed 1.4.  when I tried to load a map I got the same error message:
Text: File objects\effects\textures\35mm_tracer not found!

it gives me the same error msg regardless of what version of BF I am running.

ok, I found someone who apparantly had the same problem that I do.

It looks like you were able to solve his problem by him adding a missing file.

I tried to download the file via the link you provided, but it's dead. would you
have a recent copy of this file hosted anywhere?
Thanks,

I got the file, but I can't add it to the objects_clients.zip folder. it's corrupt. I guess that's my problem there.

eta* I see the objects_client folder should be 73,552KB, and mine is 71.7MB.
you wouldn't have by any chance the objects_client.zip hosted on an FTP?

that's a bad install...the mod is a huge install for a single exe....you need all the resources you can free up while installing.

here is the file it's asking for...

35mm_tracer.zip (http://www.nawmod.com/MOD/NAW_5.0_Final/35mm_tracer.zip)

extract the 35mm_tracer.dds from the zip file and open up Objects_client.zip....navigate to /effects/textures/ ...and drag the 35mm_tracer.dds into the textures folder

let me know how you get on  Wink

sweet. at least I don't have to reinstall my other copy.
my problem seems to lie with the objects_client.zip which is corrupt, and wont read the 35mm tracer .DDS file. is it possible I got a partially corrupt download? I see others have had the same problem. Is it a question of just replacing that folder?
