Did you install both updates?....if so, are you still having the same problem?

True, I've never dealt with anyone who had a Steam version of BF2...I had no idea there was such a version. Are you using the NAW shortcuts to launch the MOD?....I don't recall choosing single or mutliplayer in our menu.

double post yay:

some good news...

was able to go into the single & multi menu. and was able to start loading map in single....

but was unable to patch bf from 1.0 to 1.4 (and then .4 -> .5)...  so when the map loads it gets to around 70% then closes...

so i think it is something to do with how steam has patched the game...

is there any way to to veiw the crash log ? it might give us some clues Smiley

there might be ...but I can't remember...I guess goggle will tell you. The Mod definitely needs to run on BF2 1.5 Patch...there's no way around it. Keep me informed as to what progress you make...and try and find out what the Steam version is all about...I would think that the Steam version would be pre-patched to 1.5... if so...we still have a problem.

UPDATE: Looking at your screenshot a bit closer...I can see that you are patched to 1.5 (bottom right, left of the yellow arrow)

Set your textures to High...some maps won't load otherwise ...this may not be a definitive solution to your particular problem

Optimizing Shaders only happens when you change a major graphic setting...it is related to hardware and DirectX and the game engine. In the BF2 Users settings (I'm traveling and I don't have the game installed on my laptop due to SSD not being big enough) somehere there is a cache folder within it...you should deleted the contents within it. Also, run a DirectX update from Microsoft site. Although you have Win7 Ultimate, you can still do a DirectX 9 update/fix. I would also do a good defrag...there might be some issues with that directory or another part of the HD that the game access. Kano, one of the lead developers used to swear by a good defrag to help some glitchy issues with BF2/NAW....let us know how you get on.
